The fine powder will absorb the oil. Keep blotting and use more sweetener if you need to. Amazing! Milk

Now if you get ink stains on your coloured clothes loves, you might just be able to remedy it with an overnight milk bath (for the clothes loves not you). Just soak the affected bit of clothing in milk overnight and wash as usual the next day. Worth a try we’d say. Shampoo

Cheap hair shampoo is great for washing your windows but who’d have known it can break down body oils and act as a detergent. So when you get that manky old ring around your collar grab the shampoo to give it a wee scrub. Hair Spray

When the little one gets hold of a ballpoint pen and the next thing you know there’s marks all over your nice new white top panic sets in. Well we are here to tell you to just grab the hairspray loves and give it a quick squirt. That would be the ink stain loves not the child, and the pen marks should come right off. Toothpaste

Toothpaste is another great option for the ink stain that happens when your jolly old pen leaks in your pocket. It might not work on all fabrics but it’s worth a go we reckon. Pop some non-gel toothpaste on the stain and vigorously rub the fabric together. Rinse it with water. If some of the stain came out then that’s fab. Do the same thing again a few times and you might just get rid of all the ink. Apparently you can do the same thing with lipstick. Shaving cream

Oh heck! Tomato sauce can cause quite a mess loves. If you’ve got yourself a wee stain with the stuff try spraying some non-gel shaving foam onto it. Rub it in gently and leave it to dry. Then wash it as normal. Cola

Cola might be great with your rum loves but it’s also a handy stain remover. Who would ever have guessed! Yes if you’ve got a few bloodstains on your clothing, you can soak them overnight in cola to remove them.

ETHEL & BETHEL’S CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

CHEESE SCONES

Ingredients 3 cups flour 4 ½ tspns baking powder ½ tspn salt 75gms cold butter 1 ½ cup grated tasty cheese and a bit extra Milk – about 1 ½ cups Method Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Get your fingers in there (make sure you’ve given those grubby little things a good scrub first) and rub the butter into the flour. It will look a bit like fine breadcrumbs when you’ve finished. Now mix through the grated cheese. You can just use your hands to do that lightly. This is the important bit if you don’t want to make small windowless buildings: start adding the milk about ½ a cup at a time and use a knife to cut it in. The less mucking around with the stuff the better. The dough will all come together once you have added enough milk. Tip the dough out onto a floured bench. Lightly ease it out into a rectangle shape. Again don’t be tempted to knead the heck out of it just gently gently. Sprinkle more grated cheese over the top. Now cut into squares, circles or any other shape you so desire and place on a baking tray. Bake in a hot oven 200C for about 12 mins or until nicely browned. Serve hot with lashings of butter or jam and cream if you are posh!
